Most visitors taking the Pine Creek Road exit are heading for the wilderness, using the trailhead at the end of the road to hike off to Honeymoon Lake, Pine Lake, Upper Pine Lake, and beyond into the high country of the John Muir Wilderness.

The plants are usually made right from both bridges, with the Department of Fish and Game plunking in rainbow trout in the 10- to 12-inch class.
