Stumpy Meadows Lake is a California Fishing spot. Stumpy Meadows Lake is located in El Dorado County in the State of California. Stumpy Meadows Lake has the latitude and longitude (38.90032, -120.59638) and the altitude is 4200 feet.
Stumpy Meadows has a good supply of brown trout in excess of four pounds, but people do not usually try special tricks for them. My suggestion is to occasionally try exclusively for the big brown trout by using larger lures, such as a No. 11 Rapala or a Sparklefish, and to troll faster than typical for rainbow trout. You may get a big one.
Snow shuts down the access road every winter, but as soon as the road is plowed (usually in April), the fishing is often excellent. That’s because the lake is stocked with trout nearly every week once the road has been cleared, for a yearly total of 9,300 10- to 12-inch rainbows, 1,500 10- to 12-inch browns, and 10,000 fingerling browns. Most of the trout are caught using standard trolling techniques; just adjust for depth according to the time of year. In the early spring and late fall, some big brown trout move up into the head of the lake near the entrance point for Pilot Creek.
Before fishing in Stumpy Meadows Lake you should consult with local guides and regulations. Fishermen who have fished at Stumpy Meadows Lake are encouraged to post reviews of the Stumpy Meadows Lake Fish types and any images they want to share with others.
